TENTATIVE ITINERARY – A day-by-day guide to your experience

12/28/2025 DAY 1: WELCOME TO LOS ANGELES

When you arrive in Southern California, make your way to the Hyatt Regency Long Beach. Many travelers take a ride share service such as Uber of Lyft, but taxicabs are available at the airports as well. Once at the hotel, check in with your travel liaisons to check into your hotel room starting at 4:00 p.m. PST. This is when you’ll receive your tickets for the week and your tour credential. For guests arriving early, bags can be stored at the hotel front desk until your room is ready. Late afternoon, you’ll attend an opening welcome session led by a member of the MFA staff and/or education faculty, and enjoy the rest of the evening at your leisure in Long Beach. For ideas on places to visit, or things to do, Music Travel Consultants as well as the hotel’s concierge desk will be available to assist you.

12/29/2026 DAY 2: LET THE MUSIC BEGIN!

After breakfast at the hotel, guests will be taken to the Museum of Music-Making by NAMM, Music for All’s Strategic Advocacy partner.

All package holders will board motor coach transportation and travel to the 2026 Honor Band in the Rose Parade’s first public performance at the Parent Preview Night.

12/30/2025 DAY 3: PREP FOR THE PARADE

Guests will board motor coach transportation and be brought to Pasadena City College to watch the 2026 Honor Band in the Rose Parade perform at the Tournament of Roses Bandfest (time tentative – time assigned by Tournament of Roses, known Fall 2025)! The Honor Band will be one of many performances this day, and your ticket allows you to watch all of the performances in our session. All of these groups will be performing a short field show, then concluding their time in front of audiences with a pass and review, as they showcase their parade performances.

After Bandfest, you’ll be able to walk through one of the float barns to watch teams decorate the floats that you will see in the Tournament of Roses Parade. The excitement is contagious as you watch many hands placing flowers in individual viles of water or gluing crushed black-eyed peas onto the floats to ensure that the entire surface is covered in organic material.

12/31/2026 DAY 4: SIGHT SEEING DAY

Orange county’s beaches encompass 42 miles of shimmering sands, rugged coves, boardwalks, and breathtaking vistas. Huntington Beach, known throughout the world for its superb surfing conditions, is one of California’s finest. Spend some time on the beach, browse the shops, and grab a bite to eat.

Afternoon time for individual pursuits. For ideas on places to visit, or things to do, Music Travel Consultants as well as the hotel’s concierge desk will be available to assist you.

1/1/2026 DAY 5: THE ROSE PARADE

It’s parade day! Guests will have an early morning, and grab breakfast to take with them as they board the motor coach. There’s nothing more exciting than watching the sun rise over the streets of Pasadena as everyone bustles around you to find the perfect spot to watch the Tournament of Roses Parade. At the parade’s conclusion, everyone will board the buses to be brought back to the hotel for a leisure afternoon at the hotel before boarding the buses once more to attend the Closing Session and Gala Banquet.

Be sure to bring a change of clothes because you will then head to Disneyland for a private after-hours event with the rest of the VIP Experience group and the Honor Band members.

1/2/2026 DAY 6: WE’RE GOING TO UNIVERSAL STUDIOS

Before traveling to Universal StudiosHollywood for a full day of fun in the theme park, breakfast will be served at the hotel. The group buses will do a drop-off in the morning and a return trip in the evening to/from the hotel. Transfers midday can be arranged individually if needed.

1/3/2026 DAY 7: DEPARTURE DAY

All guests should check out of the hotel by Noon, but are able to depart at any time. For transportation back to the airport, you can utilize a ride-share service like Uber or Lyft, or ask the hotel front desk to call a taxi cab. If your student is in the Honor Band, they will be brought back to the airport on a Music for All shuttle, so you can meet them at the airport ticket counters. If you wish to travel to the airport with your student, navigate to their hotel, and then you can all call a ride share service or taxicab from that hotel.
