Music for All’s Bands of America Honor Band will march in The Rose Parade on New Year’s Day 2022 in Pasadena, California. With more than 300 members, this national honor band will represent school band programs across America. Meet the members!
Name: Allison Hoefle
Hometown: St. Peters, MO
Why did you apply to be a member of the Honor Band?
My friend Alex told me she was doing it and I wanted to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It sounded interesting so I decided to submit an audition.
What part of the trip are you most excited about?
I am excited to meet everyone I have been talking to for quite a while now. I am also excited to celebrate all of our accomplishments after the parade is over.
What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in your high school music program?
I’ve learned a lot in band but I’d say my top 3 are: Be confident in what you do, don’t give up, and the fact that band is a family and we have to be there for one another
To date, what is your favorite memory of being involved in your high school music program?
In January 2020, the top concert band from my school, the Wind Ensemble, was one of 5 schools statewide selected to perform at the Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) conference in Tan-Tar-A, Missouri. This was the first time a concert band group from my school district performed there in over 20 years. It was an awesome experience and a performance of a lifetime that I will be sure to never forget.
What activities and clubs are you involved in?
I am in marching band, pep band, NHS, Arete, FCCLA, and I am on student leadership for my school.
What are your post-graduation plans?
I plan to attend a 4-year university majoring in Nursing and possibly get a minor in music. I also hope to participate in marching band.
Have you participated in any Music for All or Bands of America activities before? If so, which ones?
Yes, my high school marching band participates every year at the St. Louis Super Regional.
