Music for All’s Bands of America Honor Band will march in The Rose Parade on New Year’s Day 2022 in Pasadena, California. With more than 300 members, this national honor band will represent school band programs across America. Meet the members!

Why did you apply to be a member of the Honor Band?
I applied to be a member of the honor band to experience what it is like to march in a parade and to be part of a large band. Since I am in a small band program, this is a new experience for me and I couldn’t be more excited.
What part of the trip are you most excited about?
I am most excited about meeting people from across the country and marching with them. I love to meet new people and I feel that coming together as a nation and as a band on New Year’s Day is amazing.
What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in your high school music program?
Three things I’ve learned from my high school music program include how to help and lead others, be optimistic, and work together as a team, which are important especially in a smaller band program.
To date, what is your favorite memory of being involved in your high school music program?
My favorite memory of being involved in my high school music program is going to Pasadena, California for a music festival and going to Universal Studios after. I was a freshman at the time and it allowed me to become closer to the upperclassmen and experience music competitions in a way I haven’t been able to do previously. It was the most fun trip I’ve done in high school so far.
What activities and clubs are you involved in?
I am involved in Math Honor Society, National Honor Society, Tri-M Honor Society, Medical Society, Military Leadership, Indoor Drum-line, Marching/Pep Band, Concert Band, and Girl Scouts.
What are your post-graduation plans?
After graduation, I plan to go to college to study Biomedical Engineering. I hope to continue marching band in whichever college I attend.
