Hometown: Midland, TX
Why did you apply to be a member of the Honor Band?
Purely for the experience. It’s a great opportunity and I love to meet people and make connections in the world of music.
What part of the trip are you most excited about?
Getting to perform for the whole nation!
What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in your high school music program?
Being in any form of music takes lots of dedication, always challenge yourself every day if you want to improve, and you have to love the life to stay in it.
To date, what is your favorite memory of being involved in your high school music program?
I got to play parts of Bizet’s Carmen, which was one of the pieces that made me fall in love with classical music.
What activities and clubs are you involved in?
I am in jazz band and full orchestra in addition to my regular band class, and have also been in theatre.
What are your post-graduation plans?
I am planning on majoring in either music performance or music education. I hope to someday be able to get a Doctorate of Musical Arts.
Tell us something unique about yourself.
I can pick up new instruments in a few weeks’ time, and I have been teaching beginners lessons since I was 13.
