Music for All’s Bands of America Honor Band will march in The Rose Parade on New Year’s Day 2022 in Pasadena, California. With more than 300 members, this national honor band will represent school band programs across America. Meet the members!

Why did you apply to be a member of the Honor Band?

I thought it would be an amazing experience to play among others who have the same focus and motivation towards marching band as I do. Many friends of mine had also been applying, so I thought it would be a great way to represent Windermere.

What part of the trip are you most excited about?

I am definitely looking forward to the percussion weekend rehearsals the most as we get to meet our section earlier and can help represent the honor band in Indianapolis.

What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in your high school music program?

One, I have learned to always be organized as to navigate through rigorous scheduling. Two, I have been able to learn accountability as the band is a team, and if a handful of members are not doing well, the whole team may topple. Lastly, I have learned to always put my best efforts in as you can always make something better, whether it is a musical piece or a simple chore.

To date, what is your favorite memory of being involved in your high school music program?

Definitely performing at States as a marching band, as our band had made finals and all of us were exhilarated to be there.

What activities and clubs are you involved in?

Not only do I participate in marching band, but I also am involved in my school’s jazz and percussion ensemble classes. I am also a drummer for the Orlando Youth Chamber Ensemble’s Jazz 1 group. In addition, I work a part-time job and volunteer at a local preschool.

What are your post-graduation plans?

I wish to go to college to study Physics and then go into medical school to be licensed as a Psychiatrist, all the while practicing and performing music, possibly as a minor, for fun as music is so important to me.

Have you participated in any Music for All or Bands of America activities before? If so, which ones?

Yes, I have participated in BOA Orlando on multiple accounts as well as BOA Grand Nationals in Indianapolis.

Tell us something unique about yourself.

I am a huge fan of the fantasy and sci-fi genres. I love playing Destiny and reading books similar to Lord of the Rings.
