Music for All’s Bands of America Honor Band will march in The Rose Parade on New Year’s Day 2022 in Pasadena, California. With more than 300 members, this national honor band will represent school band programs across America. Meet the members!

Why did you apply to be a member of the Honor Band?

I applied to be a member because the Rose Parade is an iconic American celebration and participating in it as a member of the BOA Honor Band (& with my high school color guard director!!) would be a dream!

What part of the trip are you most excited about?

Aside from actually performing in the parade, I am most excited to see all the parade floats up close!

What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in your high school music program?

I’ve learned that no skill is as important as having a relationship with your teammates and directors; beauty is more of an expression than an appearance; and to cherish any time I get to spend practicing, teaching, and performing this sport I love!

To date, what is your favorite memory of being involved in your high school music program?

One of my favorite memories has always been our trip to Indianapolis for Grand Nationals my sophomore year. There is nothing like traveling with a few hundred of your closest friends to perform for thousands!

What activities and clubs are you involved in?

I am a color guard technician and choreographer at Frenship High School and I am very involved at Redeemer church in Lubbock!

What are your post-graduation plans?

I graduated from Marcus High School in 2020 and now attend Texas Tech University, planning to pursue a career in secondary education. This summer I will be spinning with the 2021 Boston Crusaders Color Guard!!

Have you participated in any Music for All or Bands of America activities before? If so, which ones?

I  have participated in 4 San Antonio Super Regionals, 3 Regionals, and 1 Grand Nationals.

Tell us something unique about yourself.

I get free slurpees on my birthday, 7/11!!!!
