Music for All’s Bands of America Honor Band will march in The Rose Parade on New Year’s Day 2022 in Pasadena, California. With more than 300 members, this national honor band will represent school band programs across America. Meet the members!

Name: Micah Clark

Hometown: Bentonville, AR

Why did you apply to be a member of the Honor Band?

I was in 8th grade when I watched the 2017 Honor Band march in the parade. At that time, a few members of my future high school were marching, and watching them and hearing their experiences made me want to apply whenever I was old enough. It was my goal throughout high school to make the Honor Band, so it was such an exciting day when I got the acceptance email!

What part of the trip are you most excited about?

I’m most excited about Disneyland! I’m a huge Disney fan, so performing there will be a dream come true.

What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in your high school music program?

Through many auditions and the ups and downs that come with it all, I’ve learned to always persevere and try again, even if I fail. I’ve also learned to be confident in myself and my peers whenever we perform. Finally, I’ve learned how to be a part of something bigger than myself and how to work for the good of the group and its future, not just for my own interests.

To date, what is your favorite memory of being involved in your high school music program?

My favorite memory with my high school band was National Concert Band Festival in 2019. It brought our entire Wind Symphony together, and the concert evoked so much emotion from us all. It was truly a performance I will never forget.

What activities and clubs are you involved in?

Any and every band I can be a part of and my church’s Youth Group.

What are your post-graduation plans?
I will be attending Harding University to study Music Education.

Have you participated in any Music for All or Bands of America activities before? If so, which ones?

Our marching band went to St. Louis Super Regional in 2017, 2018, and 2019, and Grand Nationals in 2018. Our Wind Symphony went to National Concert Band Festival in 2019.

Tell us something unique about yourself.

I can sing all the words to “Introducing Me” from Camp Rock 2.
