Music for All’s Bands of America Honor Band will march in The Rose Parade on New Year’s Day 2022 in Pasadena, California. With more than 300 members, this national honor band will represent school band programs across America. Meet the members!

Name: Tony Morris

Hometown: Wilmington, OH

Why did you apply to be a member of the Honor Band?

I applied to be a member of the Honor Band because I love being involved in music. I’m willing to branch out to activities outside of school just to be surrounded by music.

What part of the trip are you most excited about?

I’m most excited to march in the parade and have my friends and family see me.

What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in your high school music program?

I’ve learned about leadership, confidence, and individuality. I have learned how to overcome the anxiety that I once had through band.

To date, what is your favorite memory of being involved in your high school music program?

My favorite memory is going to march in the Disney Parade in Magic Kingdom. We were one of the very last groups to perform before the national shutdown.

What activities and clubs are you involved in?

I have been involved in Winter Color Guard for 3 years, and Winter Percussion for 2 years. I am also involved in our Jazz Band.

What are your post-graduation plans?
I plan on going off to college. I want to major in Music Education and minor in Biology or a general science subject.

Have you participated in any Music for All or Bands of America activities before? If so, which ones?

Our band has gone to Indianapolis for the Bands of America competitions in 2018 and 2019. We are hopefully participating for the 2021 season!

Tell us something unique about yourself.

I love learning different instruments. I primarily play clarinet but over the years I have picked up bass clarinet, oboe, flute, and tenor saxophone. I hope to continue as I get around to buying more in the future.
