Music for All’s Bands of America Honor Band will march in The Rose Parade on New Year’s Day 2022 in Pasadena, California. With more than 300 members, this national honor band will represent school band programs across America. Meet the members!

Name: Mary Anna D’Amico

Why did you apply to be a member of the Honor Band?

To have a great experience with a huge sound in a cool location

What part of the trip are you most excited about?

I am really excited to be in this parade because I have watched bands march in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade my whole life, but this will be the first parade I have been in.

What are three things you’ve learned from being involved in your high school music program?

I have learned to be patient, committed, and have really good time management.

To date, what is your favorite memory of being involved in your high school band program?

My band won the University Classic, which was our first competition after COVID, and when our name was announced everyone was screaming and we started chanting my band director’s name. We could all see him smiling from across the field and it was really special to see him so proud.

What activities and clubs are you involved in?

I am a member of a local crew rowing team and help teach rowing at summer learn-to-row camps, as well as playing flute and piccolo in marching band and pep band. I also attend Holy Family Church and participate in religion classes.

What are your post-graduation plans?
I plan to be a fighter-pilot in the Air Force and major in Aero-space engineering and Criminal Justice.

Tell us something unique about yourself.

I was a part of the BOA Regional Championships in Florida.
